#Lemon Shark#
Distinguishing Features:
^w^A big, stocky, yellow-brown shark with smooth cusped teeth in both jaws.
^w^Second dorsal fin about as big as the first.
Size:
^w^Females grow to over 9 feet (285cm) and males reach just slightly less length (279cm). Maximum size is about 11 feet (340cm).
Notes:
^w^Found mainly in the western Atlantic and eastern Pacific along the North and South American continents.
^w^An abundant coastal and in-shore tropical shark that occasionally ventures into the open ocean, apparently for purposes of migration.
^w^Shark has been involved in several attacks on people in boats. This often occurs after the shark is disturbed, harpooned, or hooked.
^w^Much is known about this shark due to intensive long-term behavioral and ecological studies being conducted by Dr. Sam Gruber and associates.
